Outdoor Play Guidelines

  • Brock Corydon Daycare respects the need for children to experience the outdoors and provides them with opportunities to interact with their environment on a daily basis.   We believe that outdoor play spaces are extensions of the indoor playrooms, providing many of the same opportunities as indoor spaces, including creative and structured activities.

We follow the Manitoba Early Learning and Childcare Guidelines with regards to outdoor play.

  • In the winter, n/k children go outside unless it is colder than -25C with the wind chill and s/a children go outside unless it is colder than -28C with the wind chill. Children dressed appropriately for the weather ie. boots, snow pants, jackets, hats, mitts and scarves stay warm enabling them to enjoy a better play experience.

  • In the summer, we practice sun safety to help protect your child from the harmful effects of the sun. Applying sunscreen (SPF 30), wearing a hat, taking breaks in the shade and drinking water regularly are the actions we follow.
